Location - Altec CNC Division - Bowburn

Due to strong growth and an increasing demand for our CNC precision machining services, we are currently seeking to fill a number of key positions within our busy CNC Division located in Bowburn Co. Durham.

There are multiple positions available for each role, and we would welcome applications from those with the appropriate experience and a desire to become part of a progressive engineering company.

Production Operators

The successful applicant(s) will be responsible for the manufacture of a range of quality parts in a fast-paced production environment.

The successfull applicant's role and responsibilities will include:

  • Operating a CNC machine and following Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P’s)
  • Tool setting and the production of components
  • Loading and unloading of CNC machine tools and fixtures
  • Responsibility for ensuring that the machining process remains in control
  • Working within a fast-paced production environment
  • Maintaining safe operation by adhering to safety procedures and policy
  • Completion of all necessary daily documents such as Time Sheets etc.

Successful applicants for this role will be able to demonstrate:

  • Previous experience of operating within a similar role
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A keen eye for detail to identify any potential issues in production
  • The ability to accurately inspect your own work
  • Prior knowledge of operating machine tools
  • Ability to read and interperet engineering drawings accurately
  • Flexibility regarding working shifts and over-time

Shift Patterns:-

This position will be on a Two shift rota along with a possibility of working a night shift if and when required.

  • 06.00-14.00 Monday to Thursday - 06.00-12.00 on a Friday
  • 14.00-22.30 Monday to Thursday - 12.00-16.00 on a Friday
  • 21.15-06.45 Monday to Thursday (4 Nights only)

3 & 4 Axis Miller (Haas, Hurco, Mori)

The successful applicant(s) will be responsible for the manufacture of a range of quality parts in a fast-paced production environment.

The successfull applicant's role and responsibilities will include:

  • Setting, operating and running a range of  3 & 4 Axis Milling machines
  • Tool setting and the production of components
  • Loading and unloading of CNC machine tools and fixtures
  • The ability to select, set and change tools as required for production
  • Working on highly technical products to tight machining tolerances
  • Maintaining safe operation by adhering to safety procedures and policy
  • Completion of all necessary daily documents such as Time Sheets etc.

Successful applicants for this role will be able to demonstrate:

  • That they are Time Served Engineers
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A good Engineering background
  • The ability to Program via the Machine Control
  • The ability to accurately inspect own work
  • A comprehensive knowledge of 3, 4 and ideally 5 Axis Machines
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately
  • Ability to work to fine tolerances
  • Flexibility egarding working shifts and over-time

5 Axis Miller (Mazak VTC & I700)

The successful applicant(s) will be responsible for the manufacture of a range of quality parts in a fast-paced production environment.

The successfull applicant's role and responsibilities will include:

  • Setting, operation and running of 5 Axis Milling machines
  • Tool setting and the production of components
  • Loading and unloading of CNC machine tools and fixtures
  • The ability to select, set and change tools as required for production
  • Working on highly technical products to tight machining tolerances
  • Maintaining safe operation by adhering to safety procedures and policy
  • Completing all necessary daily documents such as Time Sheets etc.

Successful applicants for this role will be able to demonstrate:

  • That they are Time Served Engineers
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good Engineering Background
  • The ability to Program via the Machine Control
  • The ability to accurately inspect own work
  • A comprehensive knowledge of 3, 4 & 5 Axis Machines
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately
  • Ability to work to fine tolerances
  • Flexibility with regarding working shifts and over-time

Shift Patterns:

This position will be on a Three shift rotating pattern with a period of training / familiarisation depending upon past experience etc.

  • 06.00-14.00 Monday to Thursday - 06.00-12.00 on a Friday
  • 14.00-22.00 Monday to Thursday - 12.00-18.30 on a Friday
  • 21.15-06.45 Monday to Thursday (4 Nights only)
     

2 x Toolmaker

  • 38 hours plus overtime
  • 25 days holiday
  • Time served
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience
  • Subcontract experience preferred but not essential
  • Excellent manual milling skills
  • Experience of wire erosion, spark erosion, CNC, surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, all desirable
  • Experience of machine building desirable
  • Qualified to BTEC ONC/HNC or equivalent preferred but not essential

1 x Sales Estimator

  • 37.75 hours plus overtime
  • 25 days holiday
  • Time served toolmaking background would be an advantage
  • Experience of toolroom equipment essential; milling, turning, wire erosion, spark erosion, CNC, surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, all desirable
  • Experience of special purpose equipment desirable
  • Qualified to BTEC ONC/HNC or equivalent preferred but not essential
  • Good experience of estimating subcontract services: machining, assembly, design, etc.
  • Outgoing personality
  • Sales experience essential. Role will be at least 70% estimating, 30% sales
  • KAM desirable
  • Ability to grow an account
  • Good PC skills, including Microsoft Office products
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Willing to travel, primarily within the UK
