Altec Awarded 4 Year Contract By Science, Technology & Facilities Council

In support of their world leading research activities, the Science, Technology and Facilities Council (STFC) has awarded Bowburn based Altec Engineering a 4 year contract for the provision of CNC precision machining services, covering 3 of their key UK sites.
The STFC (Science, Technology & Facilities Council) is one of Europe’s largest multi-disciplinary research organisations, and the only one of its kind in the UK. The goal of the organisation is to deliver World Class Research, Innovation and Skills, primarily for the benefit of the United Kingdom but also more broadly across the world.
The contract, awarded to Altec for a second successive time, covers the provision of a wide range of machining services including: turning, milling, spark and wire erosion. The components to be produced by Altec under this agreement will often be complex in shape and machined to fine tolerances in a variety of standard and exotic materials. Altec’s CNC precision machining contract provides direct support to the STFC’s Rutherford Appleton Laboratory - Oxfordshire, Daresbury Laboratory – Cheshire and the UK Astronomy Technology Centre in Edinburgh.
